To me, it's like 1776 all over again and we are again a very divided as an American Nation of ‘us’ and ‘them’ giving those lying, greedy, power hungry, cheating, committing fraud, spying, killing and people dying the justification for what they were doing. This is a different kind of war and intentions are high.

Calling out propaganda has become a common trend in political art. This can take on the form of propaganda itself because it employs the same method of illustration as its original counterpart. “With the advent of the First World War and subsequent political turmoil, the propaganda poster came into its own.”

In the past humans use art as a tactic to recruit people, whether that be for personal advancement or to further national causes.

For use in Propaganda images are often paired with slogans, sayings, and words. This adds some extra clarity to the point that the image is trying to make.

Countries would create an image of the enemy (like Hitler did in the Holocaust with Jews) and an image of themselves (like Uncle Sam for American soldiers). This played on the division of ‘us’ and ‘them’ and gave those people killing and dying justification for what they were doing.

In the 1920’s “the poster became one of the principle and most effective vehicles of governmental ad political propaganda.” It was used to acquire support for certain ideas put forward by a leading party.

Political posters and cartoons were the easiest, most straightforward yet unrealistic vessel to create these images in. They were used the majority of the time in propaganda campaigns in many different countries over long periods of time.
