Description
The Parkside Chapel of Henryville Pa, functioned for twelve months a year at the turn of the 20th century.
Soon after though, the chapel was open throughout the summer months only. Several of the unique artifacts have been preserved.
In 1986 the Chapel was given to the Monroe County Clergy Association by the descendants of the Henry family.
The Chapel was open for many years in the months of June and July only. It did not open in 2009 and for most of 2010.
In late August of 2010, it was deeded by the Monroe County Clergy Association to a group of local residents committed to conserve the Chapel as a historical building to be used as a non denominational church for worship during the months of June through September.
This new grouping became renowned as PARKSIDE CHAPEL OF HENRYVILLE. A statement from the group reads:
The preservation of the Chapel is of great importance to all of Monroe County and especially to residents of Paradise Township.
On February 27, 2011, we were awarded the Monroe County Historical Association " Preserve, Enhance, Promote" historic preservation award.
We are working with Paradise Historical Society and Monroe County Historical Association to present the history of the Chapel.
We want to display the original Bible, Sunday school attendance records and artifacts to all residents and to the visitors of the Chapel.
